While marijuana may not be as addictive as something like alcohol or meth, it still forms habits to keep on smoking. This may include "I only smoke when im with my friends" and things of that nature. Marijuana is still a addictive and habit forming drug and it has the potential to cause lung problems.
While marijuana is not a hard drug like cocaine it still changes your mind state. When you are "high" you are still in an altered state of mind which reduces your focus and productivity which can cause a problem at school or in the workplace.
Just last year legalized marijuana made over 1 Billion dollars. This is only in one state. People are going to make money off the sale of marijuana if it is legal or not. But if it was legal this would mean that the economy would grow dramatically and this would also make a lot of tax revenue which would translate to better roads and public services.
52% of drug related arrest in 2010 are from marijuana. They are not even the kingpins that are being arrested. Rather it is normal people with small amounts of marijuana. This is putting people who are not criminals and are only there for something small like marijuana with people who are hardened criminals and drug addicts. People who are there for things like murder and meth addicts.
