If Marijuana was legalized, there would be a wider access for medical use. Many people inside and outside of medicine believe that it is effective in treating Epilepsy, PTSD, MS, and Crohn's Disease.
Recreational use would benefit more than medical use because it's easy to access and obtain. People could really need marijuana for medical uses and not be able to get it prescribed. Recreational use takes care of everyone in that sense.
I agree because not everyone that may need the medical use of marijuana can obtain it and most states in the Midwest do not have it legal in anyway. Marijuana should be legal for recreational and medical use because it's not going to help everyone that needs it if it is just medically legalized.
It can increased the health of some users leading them to be stronger and healthier like certain disease it can cause to death and marijuana can be a solution to help in health.
If we make marijuana legal, it will lower the organized crime rate. If people could get marijuana for 1) easier without getting in trouble, they're going obviously go with that, 2) they are spending more money but they wouldn't be getting in trouble.
Legalizing marijuana would give the police time to attend to other bigger crimes are that are more dangerous rather than focusing on catching drug users.
It will also mean loss of business for drug dealers! There would be open competition and lower prices, so drug cartels would lose some or even all of their business, helping the police!
Making marijuana legal would also allow people with illnesses to treat themselves in case the doctor doesn't believe that it will help, but that person may believe that it helps with their illness. Some Doctors may believe that it will help their patients but not everyone is going to go to that doctor.
Studies say it relaxes the body by slowing your brain, making things all slow. This will relax you when your stressful and you can't calm down or go to sleep.
There are 2 main types of weed: Sativa and Indica. Sativa wakes you up and sends energy to the brain which then spreads out to the body. So instead of drinking coffee to wake up you can smoke 1 or 2 blunts of sativa and you'll be awake. Indica is known to send chemicals to the body to relax. So it could be beneficial to the who has insomnia. Again they can smoke two blunts and they'll be able to sleep peacefully.
I 100% agree what your saying, although marijuana metabolites can remain in a body for days or even weeks after use, we have no accurate way of telling if those people were legally impaired by marijuana at the time. If they smoke too it's going to give a more cause to lung affects and body problems. Some people aren't fine through the day, while some people have to smoke so many times a day to get the stress done and over with with smoking.
This is true for come people but there are different reactions to the use of marijuana. For some people, they tend to get nervous because of the loss of control from marijuana. So this may not be necessarily true and a reason for marijuana to be legalized.
I agree with this because marijuana is prescribed for insomnia, anxiety, seizures and even stress that other medications just aren't fixing. The things we put into our bodies are all some type of drug but because they have different reputations and names they're acceptable. That's backwards.
Marijuana's illegality in America seems almost arbitrary when compared to other (and legal) things that are readily available.
Though alcohol can ruin people's lives (and in many cases kill), it is completely legal to purchase and have as long as you are of legal age. It's the same thing for cigarettes, they're addictive and cause cancer, yet you can still buy them at the gas station like they're Skittles if you're old enough. (Even with the age restriction, if people want it, they will get it.)
Regulating things around the basis that they can (and will) be abused is logical, and for that reason there are laws against driving while intoxicated because irresponsible people can endanger others. There's only prosecution when harm can possibly be done, not when you just own the thing that makes it possible.
I don't think it should be any different for marijuana.
On top of this, It has medical uses ranging from Parkinson's treatment or stress relief, something that can't be said for alcohol or tobacco. In this case, I feel like the pros simply outweigh the cons in almost every aspect.
Marijuana should be legal because it decreases illnesses in people. It also provides support to people with mental illnesses, it calms the down. With so many things not helping people with certain issues this is very important.
i agree , but marijuana should be legalized because there's many effective treatment for a range of conditions like epilepsy , Chron's diseas , PSTD , and MS , and etc. If the marijuana weren't to be legalized then people would have suffer medically.
Marijuana should be legal because it will lower down crime and also give more revenue to the state. It will lower crime because now dealers don't have to hide or higher kids to do dealing hence no need to put people in jail for selling marijuana. Also since people don't have to hide to buy it the state can tax it can make revenue from it that money can be used for state recreation.
Marijuana can be legal if it has regulation just like alcohol. you have to have your driver's licence to be able to buy it. If you do not have a driver's license then you need your SSN to be able to buy. Also kids are not allowed in the store.
Although people might say that a driver's licence is easy to get and make. its really not. Even so that's why i thought you should bring your SSN because that is not easy to make up or get.
Marijuana can be legal if it has regulation just like alcohol. you have to have your driver's licence to be able to buy it. If you do not have a driver's license then you need your SSN to be able to buy. Also kids are not allowed in the store.
Yes because it's their choice. The only difference (between cigarettes and marijuana) is that one is socially acceptable and one isn't. That thing that doesn't sense is that the one that's socially acceptable has killed thousands of people, but the one that's socially unacceptable hasn't killed anyone. For example they have commercials promoting cigarettes and that they are good. But in all actuality they will just end up killing you in the end. But they have a bunch of adds about marijuana and how it's bad for you and how it's going to kill you, yet nobody has reported death from over dosing on marijuana.
I agree with this argument. It definitely is a choice and up to the person and what drugs they put in their body. And it is very true with how cigarettes affect the body a lot more than marijuana.
I highly agree with legalizing Marijuana. I have known plenty of people personally that this "drug" has saved their lives. For example, my father's childhood friend; her entire family has a history of dying from brain cancer and tumors. This terrible hereditary disease followed down the line to her. She turned to marijuana for a cure. She is now cancer free after just a couple months of using this "drug". She is very proud to say that she won the fight. Marijuana should 100% be legalized. It can also be used for at home remedies and to take care of anger problems and depression. It can help you sleep better and many other things.
When a person buys weed off the street, there is no way they would exactly know what dangerous substances are cut into it. On the other hand, current legalization efforts create a framework for a safety control system, which will work to get rid of the risk coming from smoking marijuana. On the streets almost every year someone produces a bad batch of some sort of drug and users O.D. Like last year there was a bad batch of heroin in Indiana it apparently had elephant tranquillisers in it and everyone start dropping like flies.
I support this argument because you are completely right. It is very dangerous to be putting unknown substances into your body. At least with legalized marijuana, there will less danger with this drug.
I think marijuana should be legal in some case like to medical reasons for people who actually needs it to survive or help with a infection or something.
If they need so badly, maybe they should try something different because Marijuana is just another drug people are addicted to. What we need so badly is shelter not drugs that make us lose our memories with other people. No one needs drugs that badly, because the drug can be always harmful no matter what!
In some ways Marijuana should be legal like medical conditions, risk of someone live on edge or anything of that matter, but in some cases it should be illegal like for those who use it just to do it.
Marijuana should be legal because now there will be safety control. Since there is safety control there will be less cases of overdose and other issues.
if there is safety control people know what are the after effects of taking too much of the drug and there will be better ways to avoid children getting ahold of it.
I agree because when some people smoke they loose weight either because they snack on the right foods or because they don't find the need to eat as much as they did before.
Marijuana should be legal because there will be less money that goes towards organized crime. For example, there wouldn't be anymore marijuana drug deals which would definitely reduce the amount of crime the US is faced with.
Marijuana should be legal because there would be more control and safety. Not only would it be safer according to crime, but it is a safer product. When marijuana is bought off the street, what could be in the drug is unknown. It could be laced with different drugs that could make it extremely dangerous. If it is legal, whats inside the marijuana will be controlled and known.
Marijuana should be legal because it is a minor drug. It may have some effects that people don't agree with and Ect. but in the end, it's not as harmful. We have so many children in jail for possession, that have their whole lives ahead of them but they're in jail for a MINOR weed charge. It puts way too many people in jail when it doesn't really do the damage that other drugs do. It should be legal to prevent ruining children's lives
If We do have it legal tho then that means that more kids that are younger can get into it even tho there parents or older sibling are doing it, then they could and that is just stupid
It should not be legal because with some uses it does make people calm and "lets there mind go off" but in some cases its highly dangerous and we are not able to see if that person is able to stay clam or go wild when taking Marijuana.
Smoking marijuana can kill cancer cells. And that could help with cancer research because they could run tests on people who have cancer and see what the effects are.
While making marijuana legal it will allow people with sickness that can't get help to treat themselves that the no one thinks it will increase their accuracy of feeling better. Some people think that it won't help them out because of not believing drugs will help with the sickness but more states are passing the law that people are allowed to use medical marijuana. Marijuana can sometimes help those natural chemicals work better, our body already makes marijuana-like chemicals that affect pain.
Marijuana should be legalize because of the cause of reduce harms. The criminalization of marijuana use disproportionately harms young people and of massive levels of violence and corruption. The level harm is controlling of what everyone is thinking while taking this drug. The harm of Marijuana is that it can be physical and mental because smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung. Smoking marijuana can harm more than just the lungs and respiratory system, it can also affect the immune system and the body's ability to fight disease.
Marijuana should be legal for both medical and recreational use because it can be used to treat disorders and diseases that people are and aren't aware of.
Marijuana should be legal because because it increases the economy. Taxes applied to marijuana would help the state to fix roads and buildings. It would also create many jobs for the jobless.
Marijuana should be legal because no one has ever died from marijuana overdose like they have with other drugs. Using marijuana could deter people from using harder drugs that could kill them
Marijuana should not be legal because it is harmful to your lungs. Marijuana is estimated to have levels of carcinogens that are 50-70% higher than tobacco smoke and it allows your lungs to be exposed to cancer causing chemicals.
Things that are already legalized and have always been are extremely harmful to people. Cigarettes come with a warning that it may cause cancer yet it's a social norm to do as you please with them as well as alcohol consumption. People die from alcohol poisoning all the time yet when researching deaths from marijuana not much comes up. Marijuana isn't the drug that's killing people.
Even if it is harmful, like all the other legal things people consume, it comes down to the fact that legal or not it is that person's choice to smoke marijuana. If drugs weren't a factor of people's lives we wouldn't have medication at all. Whether it becomes legal or not it is still going to be highly available every single day.
No matter what drug you use it is going to harm your body and others who take the drug. It doesn't matter which one, each drug has a different affect on everyone. SO why people shouldn't have it so they don't cause others they will just find another reason to cause another drug. Heavy recreational use affect in the brains of young adults. They get it more about this age because of still processing into childhood.
Marijuana should not be legalized for medical use because it causes risk of heart diseases and failure. The heart rate goes from 20-100% for up to three hours after smoking Marijuana. This causes risk for arrhythmia, heart palpitations, and heart attack.
Yes it can do this but something that's legal, cigarettes, has that can cause many different brutal diseases. So if dangerous cigarettes are legal, why not make Marijuana legal?
Legalizing marijuana is not a good idea because it is very addictive and it would cause a more people to become addicted. This would happen because they would have an easier access to it.
I agree with you 100% because anything you have so much your going to be addicted to just like you said having so much caffeine makes your addicted to it more than marijuana and I think this is correct because of having it so many times.
It does have some health issues, for instance if a young adult, teenager, or children smoke it a lot and can affect the growth of their brain because our brain as youngsters are still growing.
Not everyone who smokes marijuana a lot is doing out of recreational purposes, some use it for medicinal purposes. Also, legalizing marijuana doesn't mean everyone will abuse it.
I agree with this statement because it the kids are still developing and even if the kid is not the one smoking marijuana second hand smoke can be a big problem.
Marijuana should not be legal because it alters your perception, meaning that you could get into a wreck or do something you won't remember. You could hurt someones family. That would be something you'd have to live with forever. Plus that jail time that you would more than likely have to serve.
You never hear about someone getting into an accident high, but you do hear about people getting into accidents drunk. When people are high they become mellow and it actually helps them focus.
Marijuana could lead to children getting it and doing the drug. If family members are in the use of Marijuana then children would do the same thing and follow their family members.
I agree with this and I honestly didn't think about it. Younger and younger children will get ahold of it and it can have a much worse affect on them than it could on adults.
Marijuana should not be legal because it is extremely harmful to the important organs in the body. One is the brain. Marijuana can cause a bad memory along with a damaged brain. The brain is damaged because marijuana causes the blood vessels to be compressed/restricted causing blood not to get to the brain completely.
People believe that cigarettes are worse for your lungs than marijuana, but that isn't necessarily true. Yes cigarettes are very bad for the lungs but marijuana has double the amount of carcinogens than cigarettes. There are so many because with marijuana, people inhale it deeper than a cigarette. Knowing all the diseases a cigarette can cause just imagine the harm marijuana can cause with that many carcinogens. In conclusion, Marijuana should not be legal.
Yes the marijuana can damage your brain but also it raise your heart beat from 20% to 100% per 3 hours which is faster than it usual beats. They be consequences with your hearts like having heart attack.
One study found that "Regular use of marijuana can hasten the onset of psychotic illnesses. In fact, high-dose THC – one of the most widely studied molecules in the marijuana plant – has been found to cause acute/transient psychosis."
Some parents are to careless and leave things wondering, if a child gets the hold of the drug they can get interest into the drug and follow the influence of the parent. Leading more and more people on doing the drug.
Marijuana should not be legal because it is a gateway to other drugs. It could lead you to trying other things besides weed. Leading to things that are not safe.
Yes this is true but it is usually when there are other drugs laced into it so if it were legal, there would be control making sure other drugs aren't put in the substance.
That is true. But we already have enough people losing jobs and also getting high at the same time that is why they do drugs test if you want them job.
It should not be legal because it cause damage to the memory. Memory is very important to have throughout your life. This could damage your ability to thing straight.
It shouldn't be legalized because of its' easy access. Making it easier to get means that it will be more tempting for kids or teens to try. (That going along with my past comment)
It is an addictive gateway drug which could lead the user to trying other dangerous drugs.
It will affect the body health wise and not in a good way.
Supporting details:
Since marijuana is an addictive drug if the user uses it to much and can't get the desired effect from it anymore the user will try other drugs which can cause a lot of problems.
Marijuana can cause a lot of health issues such as impaired judgment, slow reaction time which could cause accidents such as motor vehicle accidents.. Memory problems, bronchitis and the list goes on. It is not good for the body.
Disputes:
yes it can be used for medical purposes but if the user is an addict they can overdose.
yes it can increase state revenue but at what cause; the lives of other people because of the after effects of the user ( car accidents).
I agree with you 100%. And if it is made a controlled substance then different markets, stores, and pharmacies will get more business. That being a benefit for markets.
There is an increase in the risk of the drug falling in the hands of children. If it was made legal, the accessibility for children to get it would increase.
It should be illegal because its bad for your physical health. One example of how it effects your physical is health is pregnancy. If you smoke marijuana and are pregnant, that gives your child a higher risk of getting leukemia.
Marijuana should not be legal because is can be a gateway drug. People try marijuana and search for a bigger high leading to more life threatening drugs.
The only way that it would become a major gateway drug is if it were harder to get. But if it were legal it would be easier to get making it less of a hassel. Also cigarettes have killed WAY more people then marijuana has.
Marijuana should not be legalized because it will mess up drug dealers' way of income and potentially lead them to sell harder drugs and distribute them out to the general public more. With everyone having access to marijuana man made drugs like spice will be on the rise and cause extreme health problems.
It shouldn't be legal because drug dealers would now how to use alternatives. They now would have to sell harder drugs like cocaine, heroin, and crack. So there would be more crime.
