Marijuana isn't a drug that you need to keep tabs on at all times. With this being legal we can focus on drugs that can actually kill someone and mess with them mentally.
I think this is true because people are in jail because of marijuana more for being high and selling it and having it then actually hurting someone else
Agreed because marijuana isnt as effective when it comes to long term damage on the body, meaning it cant kill you right away unless something is mixed
Yes, it helps with seizures but it also helps with other medical things as well. As mentioned in the video the 19 year old kid who had troubles with his diaphragm. It helps a lot more than the few things that we saw in the video.
I agree some people have no self control and will spend more money on marijuana than they will on necessities . An example would be my stepdad who spends about a 100 a week .
It may help some, but for others it is a different story. Some users could be addicted to marijuana and try other drugs or have financial problems because of the price of marijuana.
I think straight weed should be legal. It doesn't affect people who don't use it and any precautions people ignore before using weed is there responsibility.
Just like cigarettes! Cigarettes have caused a lot more cancerous diseases but I've never heard anything about pot! If you don't like it, you don't have to smoke it.
I disagree with this statement because marijuana can hurt a person because of the level of THC that they have taking. Taking high levels of THC causes a dependence on the drug.
It may very well make some happy and heal some medical conditions however it cannot be ignored that it is addictive and can lead the user to using other drugs and having health issues later on.
Marijuana when looked into has next to no deaths. It has medical values. Compared to Alcohol and most other drugs the fatality is nothing and it actually helps.
Recreational Marijuana should be legalized because it can lead to create a safety control system. This is because if it was legalized than the government system would pay attention and care about whether people are getting toxic ingredients in their marijuana.
I agree. I think people can learn how to control the amount of weed they intake while also making sure they do not go for the extremely effective drugs.
It would definitely help those who are sick, but i think it should only be allowed to people over 24. When the age requirement is higher, we let the children's brain left unharmed since it is such a crucial time for the brains development.
Although most African American males are more at risk because of this drug, police and government systems would have way more space when it came to imprisonment because there would be more room to store a variety of inmates
I partially disagree with this because I feel as if there's a chance of it being harder for the people who need it to get it because it might end might end up running out.
Legalizing marijuana can provide personal freedom the drug may or may not be harmful but it's the right of the certain individual to do as they please if they want to make smoke then that's on them .
The legalization of Marijuana would decrease the crime rate. The police could focus their attention on other more violent crime. It would definitely lessen the incarceration amount. If someone were to smoke and drive, they could spend a lesser time in jail or pay a fee like they do now. It helps with the amount of time that people in jail for definitely and, save us a lot of money.
but with marijuana legal kids at a young age would be having possession of pot and then they would go to juvy. so it might help with prison and jails but not with juvys.
Cannabis or weed takes roughly 6 months to grow, and has proven useful in replacing resources such as paper, creating clothing, edibles, plastic, and a form of fuel.
It could help with cancer, arthritis, asthma, Alzheimer, and more health problems. Yes, it sounds strange but, marijuana use can actually help asthma in some cases. It helps reduce exercise-induces asthma by dilating airways but, there is a risk because it could also create a tight feeling depending on the person. The effects of marijuana on Alzheimer help the person by putting on more weight, lessens the behavior, and it could slow the progress of protein deposits in the brain.
Cancer spreads by creating more copies of the gene called Id-1, but researcher found that smoking weed will hamper this process and stop cancer from spreading through the body.
Marijuana should be legal because it will decrees the rate of drug trafficking. and gang disputes. As well as, the number of people going to jail on charges for possession.
Legalizing it will decrees the amount of people in jail however what are we to do for those who have served time for possession, and just cause it's legal doesn't mean gangs aren't gonna fight over it. It'd be simi-legal cash flow.
Marijuana should be legal because it can make law enforcement and criminal justice more effective. Officers will have more time and money to pursue criminals for other crimes, especially those involving violence. It could also help free space in crowded prisons as well.
Instead of arresting those who simply use weed and giving them a year or so just for the possession of the drug, officers could focus on those criminals who actually do harm to communities and society such as rapists, murders, etc...
With marijuana being legal those drug dealers won't be able to sell a large amount like they used to they will have to go on to sell something else such as weapons, or even cocaine. Using marijuana as their leading cause to watch them
I agree because if there are fewer deaths because marijuana becomes legalized, then crime rates involve deals with weed can decrease because of it becoming legal.
There would be a definite revenue boost in the state that legalizes it. The main reason is there would be less money supporting organized crime because it is going to the state.
Prohibition denies our human rights. Prohibition takes away our right of sovereignty over our own bodies and gives this power to government. Does any other human right make sense if we don't have sovereignty over our own bodies?
Just like cigarettes the smoke is also harmful to your lungs. Your lungs are for breathing not for smoking. People who smoke pot inhale deeper and hold the smoke longer than people who smoke cigarettes so the exposure is more just as harmful as cigarettes.
I disagree, marijuana is not as harmful as cigarettes. The nicotine and all the other harmful chemicals that are in cigarettes, it can blacken your lungs and marijuana has never done that to one's lungs.
Alcohol and cigarettes effect the brain and body too but yet they're still legal . So why shouldn't marijuana if it isn't as harmful as alcohol or cigarettes ?
Marijuana isn't really a gateway drug. even though a lot of people enjoy smoking pot it's not something that you can't live with out. People smoke because they like the way it makes you feel.
This is true, people don't smoke weed as a dependent they smoke it for the feeling, no one is addicted to the actual drug, you are not physically dependent on the drug
so in retrospect the main reason why they do it is for the release of everyday life. and be able to have a clear/wonky head for a short period of time.
Cigarettes are addictive as well and are far more harmful than marijuana but yet they are still legal . If marijuana makes you feel good then why shouldn't it be legal .
It has not been proven that there have been health problems due to the use of weed, there are statistics that show the use of weed helps more than it hinders therefore it is not harmful
Marijuana can effect mental health. Some areas such as Psychotic symptoms, changes in mood, or even addiction. Addiction is one of the major mental health effects.
Marijuana shouldn't be legal because of what it can cause. And no i'm not talking about the drug effects but that legalizing marijuana could increase on robbery because of people that can't afford it will most likely try to break into a company and take it.
But if it were legal the likely hood to still to find it and get it eliminate's the idea to put themselves in harms way to get the high the person is looking for
Recreational marijuana should not be legalized because it is known to be a gateway drug. This means that it can introduce a user of marijuana to heavier drugs such as cocaine and heroin.
but its not the leading factor, drugs such as pharmaceuticals lead to gateway drugs not marijuana. The five year old girl in the video, do you think she'll become addicted to cocaine when she gets older because she's built up a tolerance for pot?
I disagree because the drug is not the problem. The person taking it is because there are many levels of THC and the addiction of the drug would come from the persons abusing the drug.
I agree because drugs should not be a solution to problems such as depression or suicidal thoughts. Those with problems such as those mentioned above can abuse the drugs which can lead to more problems.
There are many ways to take marijuana but the most common way is to smoke it. which may end up irritating the airways, like increase phlegm and persistent cough.
a reason i think marijuana should not be legal is mainly because of the people who abuse and misuse it. As well as, the amount of kids in the families of those who abuse being permanently affected by and or addicted to it at a very young age with no true reason but the fact that their parents do it.
you can become addictive to pot because a lot of people use it every day and choose weed over other things, for example, they drop out of school just so they can smoke
This is probably one of the biggest debates of all about legalizing pot. Do we have a way to test how high you are? ('How High', that was actually a movie pretty good. Just a joke.) Should people drive high? No, it's almost like alcohol your brain is actually impaired at that time and shouldn't drive.
There have been test that prove the use of weed does not impair as much as alcohol use therefore it is not categorized the same because they are two different things.
They legalized it on the coast because it grows better with the dry air and warm sun. It's a year round thing. It's hard to grow in Indiana because of our constant wet soil.
The only reason weed is not globally legalized is because they haven't found a way to tax it. If they find a way to tax it then it will become legal eventually
If it is legalized people could still steal the drug from the user. It could easily fall into the hands of the younger generation but, this could be kept out of hands of them by a security box. No matter what you do to prevent that you are still taking the risk.
weed should not be legal because people get whats called "The munchies" and this could potentially be a health problem in the long run because of over eating
weed should not be legal because of the laziness you get from it, people are slowed way down and that is not good because you could lose your sense of awareness
Marijuana is a gateway drug with the potential to introduce a user to more serious illegal substances, like cocaine or heroin. Research also suggests that its use may be linked to a higher risk of prescription drug use.
Legal marijuana supporters have argued that it’s not as addictive as other “harder” drugs, such as heroin and cocaine. Addiction treatment specialists, however, have seen firsthand that long term use does lead to marijuana addiction. Research suggests as many as 10% of users will develop dependence over time. As with other substances, stopping marijuana use leads to withdrawal symptoms that range from irritability to anxiety
It should not be legal because if it becomes legal, the poverty rate would increase because a lot of drug dealers live off their profits from selling marijuana.
